World premiere for a new film by а Cypriot producer at one of the top festivals

A new film by а Cypriot producer is heading to the U.S. for its world premiere at one of the world’s top festivals.

The organizers of the renowned Tribeca Film Festival in Manhattan, New York, have selected the film Next Life, directed by Drake Doremus and featuring international stars, for their program.

Cypriot producer Gleb Fetisov participated in the production through the Limassol division of his company, Fetisoff Illusion. The film stars Emilia Clarke —widely known for her iconic roles as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones and Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys — alongside Edgar Ramírez (The Assassination of Gianni Versace) and Jack Farthing (Spencer).

Doremus (known for Like Crazy and The Beauty Inside) directed the film in the popular romantic sci-fi drama genre where the main character meets a charismatic jazz musician on a train, triggering a split into two parallel timelines. In one reality, she embarks on a whirlwind romance with the stranger; in the other, she reunites with her ex-fiancé. As the two universes unfold against the backdrop of London’s underground jazz scene, the film poses a question: which life, and which love, is more authentic?

The screenplay was also written by Doremus, with Jack Farthing (Prince Charles in the series Spencer) and Edgar Ramirez (Gianni Versace in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story) also starring.

The film showcases another great talent of Emilia Clarke – her beautiful singing. The characters of Next Life are jazz musicians of the London underground, and the music is not just background but an important part of the story about the characters’ parallel universes. Clarke plays a singer and performs several solo pieces and two duets with Edgar Ramirez. Moreover, a complete jazz album was produced specifically for the film
