Monday night was a night with icy temperatures that hit record numbers in at least two areas, Cyprus’ Department of Meteorology said. Stations at Athalassa and Frenaros hit -3.7 and -1.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Ιn Athalassa, -3.7 degrees is the lowest temperature ever recorded since the day the station operated. The second lowest was recorded in 1985 and was -2.9 degrees.
In Frenaros -1.2 is the lowest ever recorded since the day the station was opened.
In Troodos last night the Meteorology Department reported -9.1 degrees, -9 in Prodromos, -3.7 in Athalassa, -1.2 in Frenaros, -0.4 at Larnaca airport, zero at the new port of Limassol, 0.9 in Polis Chrysochous and 1 degree at Paphos airport.
